A little about the artist ......
My name is Aśka and I'm the artist hiding behind the Awkward Little Thinker signature.

In a nutshell, I am a socially awkward, genetically clumsy too-much-thinker, an over attached stay at home mama, and an astonishingly incompetent housewife, spoofing my way through adulthood.

I use art as a form of self care, therapy for my overactive mind and a way to reconnect with the part of my identity that has been lost over the years living and breathing motherhood , away from my native Poland, in tranquil Donegal, being mostly known and defined as someone's wife and mama.

Art lets me sneak back into my childhood and teenage years when I spent the happiest hours in my room drawing, writing, being creative and unaware of time passing by. I don't think I've ever grown up to be honest.

I have always felt inspired by women. Not in  broad sense and beauty standards, but by more unique, individual features in their character, appearance, style, angles, hand structure, anything and everything could catch my eye and spark inspiration to recreate that certain aspect or a pose and to go on a journey around it.

My artwork is a reflection of the longing and the need to escape sometimes, to go deeper within and run free. To reconnect with the self and nature, away from the noise of everyday expectations. To answer that call once in a while, take time without guilt, slow down and enjoy the little things and simple pleasures, for I believe they are the true cure for the soul.
