We discovered the artwork of Saileen Drumm on our travels through County Mayo. One look at her beautiful colours, and we knew we wanted to have her paintings in our homes and in our shop!
Saileen comes from Newport, and her works are a vibrant series of landscapes, townscapes and seascapes of the Atlantic Coastal counties. Her subjects are traditional, but her style is modern, and we think that there is a lovely tone of joy and happiness in each of her representations.
This greeting card is called 'Geese Lightning' and as the name suggests, four happy geese are set in front of a small Irish cottage, turf-smoke coming from the chimney, and a typical Irish background of electricity poles, mountains, cloud and sky. It's blank inside, to suit your own purpose, and it's definitely a card that I would keep!
This greeting card is called 'Ocean Commotion' and features a very familiar Irish coastal scene - a lighthouse being bashed by the ocean! Despite the frantic chaos, the lighthouse does what it does, which is to illuminate the darkness and help the sailor find her way home.
This greeting card is called 'Tí for Two' - a little pun on the Irish word for house, and evocative of the warm welcome and ever-boiling kettle around the hearth of the Irish cottage. It's blank inside, to suit your own purpose, and it's definitely a card that I would keep!
If you'd like a Saileen gift card as part of a customized gift box of other Wishing Chair products, please email us and we'll be happy to arrange this for you.
