We discovered the artwork of Saileen Drumm on our travels through County Mayo. One look at her beautiful colours, and we knew we wanted to have her paintings in our homes and in our shop!
Saileen comes from Newport, and her works are a vibrant series of landscapes, townscapes and seascapes of the Atlantic Coastal counties. Her subjects are traditional, but her style is modern, and we think that there is a lovely tone of joy and happiness in each of her representations.
'Haul Together' uses a familiar and traditional scene of a group of people hauling in a fishing net. It celebrates the Irish idea of 'Meitheal', which is the way that neighbors would collaborate and support each other when things needed to be done. This is a celebration of teamwork!
